Pledge Drive 2024: Help Maintain & Grow Our Beloved Community
The UUCOC 2024 Pledge Drive Is Here!
Are you enjoying our Sunday services? The Labyrinth? Our online content? Well, you can help keep all our activities going!
Our UUCOC Pledge Drive identifies our members' commitment to our church and helps us budget for our continuing operation and programming. Donations made in fulfillment of pledges provide the funds we need to continue to offer all the spiritual services we can, as well as cover the more mundane expenses. Your commitment to your church allows us to continue to provide the services you love.
So please consider what you are able to do to help maintain this beloved community.
We are grateful for all that we receive; we are humbled by what we can give.
As we sing on Sundays, "Together we share, and from this we live."
Over the past year, our church has achieved remarkable milestones that we are immensely proud of:
-
Diversity Equity and Inclusion Training: we created training targeted to new members to introduce basic multicultural communication skills needed to participate in a diverse multicultural community.
-
Anti-racist study: we offered educational and spiritual programs which study various aspects of systemic racism including, white supremacy culture, microaggressions/subtle acts of exclusion, institutional and structural racism in the UUA and in our own congregation.
-
Future planning: we are working closely with the UUA southern region to evaluate the needs and mission of our congregation and plan for growth.
-
Welcoming New Members: Our church welcomed new members who have added depth and joy to our community.
Looking ahead, we have some thrilling plans for the future that we are excited to share with you:
-
Establishing a committee on Ministry: Based on both recent experience and the advice of UUA southern region, we would like to establish a team that helps us maintain covenant and return to covenant when it has broken.
-
Community building: Both internally by providing more opportunities for congregants to develop friendships and externally by seeking more organizations in our community to partner with and learn from. Strengthening our covenant through review and possibly re-writing our covenant and mission statement.
-
Develop comprehensive new member curriculum: Develop and implement a program to introduce new members to the values, history, and spiritual practices of Unitarian Universalism and our congregation.
-
Grow in our anti-racist journey: Continue to implement the suggestions of the Widening the Circle of Concern report. Look for ways to support and share the work of BIPOC Unitarians, Universalists and Unitarian Universalists. Study the history and sermons of BIPOC Unitarian Universalists. Look for ways to support and partner with DRUUM and BLUU.
-
Build the Beloved Community in Oak Cliff: Journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions. (8th principle)
